Collection: VW T5/T6
April 2003 saw the Volkswagen replaced the T4 and was the fifth generation of VW Transporter, available as a medium-sized light commercial vehicle and people carrier with petrol & diesel options as well as a choice of front-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive, known as the 4motion.
Built at the dedicated Transporter factory in Hanover Germany, it was available in SWB (Short Wheel Base) or LWB (Long Wheel Base). The range (excluding custom-built models) consists of:
Panel Van (no side windows)
Eurovan (2 side windows, sliding doors both sides)
Kombi (windows but no rear seating)
Caravelle (5, 7, 8, 9 seat options)
Single Cab Pickup
Double Cab Pickup
Syncro (4x4 available all models)
From Hanover in 2009, it is announced that the T5 reaches its one-millionth production vehicle. Later that year, in September, the T5 would go through several changes, including:
- A new engine
- New transmission
- 7 speed (DSG) double clutch gearbox.
In April 2016, the sixth generation VW campervan (T6) is launched onto the market. Although, for VW enthusiasts, there was speculation over whether the T6 was a facelift of the T5 or a new model altogether. Diesel engines become controversial to vehicle owners across the UK and expectations of
all-electric campervan begin to circulate.
